Into the Woods

Explore my directorial journey, staging insights, and captivating moments from the theatre production.

I always try to lean into a particular text and draw out the themes that I believe lie at the heart of the piece. This musical takes four primary fairytales and takes them beyond their 'happy ever after' endings. The woods of the title are a reference to the unknown, the realities beyond the established world of the character.

For me, this musical is about the journey from childhood to something more. As such each tale had to really deliver the arc of that journey, finding the commonalities and cyclical natures within them.
